1990 Thunderbird SC modifications to 230 HP
« on: January 01, 2009, 07:40:12 PM »
Here is a nice a1990 Super Coupe  article that changed the peak power output from 192 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque at 11.9 PSI of boost to 230 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque at 14.6 PSI with the following mods:

1)  Flowmaster After-Cat And Resonator
2)  5 percent Idler Pulley
3)  73mm C&L MAF with a K&N cone filter
4)  5 percent overdrive pulley

The dyno:

If they make 300HP they will smoke :curley:'s stock cars.   :D

The 5.4 swap has been called a bad idea, and considered an underpowered considerable waste of time, since 2007.

Nice to see that most donít think that anymore.

Not really.  I do not need those parts at those prices.

I have door panels and when I looked at them on ebay they were $56 then they sold at $46.  Someone played a trick. I prefer to port my own blower myself in the machine shop at work.   I do not need fuel injectors until you finish my raised top and double IC.   :afit:

I thought by your recent posts you was not acknowledging my SC. :hide:

I am going for the 300 HP "or a little less" club.  I just picked up a 94/ 95 supercharger for $207.  Better take your blower apart and get it to me because I am going to have an "S" porting PARTY baby!!!

Here is my 1990 35th Anniversary Thunderbird Supercoupe list so far:

Port 94/ 95 Supercharger (to do)
Install FF DIS heat sink (done)
Install balancer (done)
FF double intercooler with IC fan (in progress)
Upgrade Automatic transmission OD band to 2" Kevlar (done)
Remove air silencer (done)
Use K&N filter (easy)
FF Raised top (in progress)
5% SC pulleys after blower is ported (to do)
A stock 94+ MAF or C&L 76mm (done)
Replace resonator (done)
High flow cats (done)
3inch cold air tube (undecided)
75mm throttle body (to do- I may have one sitting around)
42# injectors (based on price)
EEC Tuner (ready to go if required)

It looks like this will be a two stage project with the 94/ 95 blower coming in later.   :shift:

My $200 94 Eaton M90 Supercharger arrived yesterday.  Now it is time to think of how I am going to port it.

The "Demmitt" pear shape:

or the "mannysc" v shape:

What to do??   :-\

Take another part off the list...  :wish:

I just purchased a 76mm C&L MAF from 89XR7TD.  He asked to drop it off at Freddies but I said no because we all know :freddie: will paint it some weird color, tar and feather it with glitter and put it on his car.  It will take me months to clean off all that glitter and paint...
