The 4.6L replaced the 5.0L now it is payback time!

We all heard that Ford is developing an all-new 5.0L V8 – internally dubbed ‘coyote’. The 5.0L mill will essentially replace Ford’s 4.6L V8.

Although Ford has yet to make an official announcement, the coyote V8 should appear in the base 2011 Ford F-150 and 2011 Mustang GT.

With a four-valve per cylinder setup, the 5.0L should return similar fuel economy ratings to Ford’s current 5.4L V8 – perhaps even slightly better. Even with an added focus on fuel economy, the new coyote V8 is expected to crank out at least 400 horsepower and 400 lb-ft or torque.

The 5.4 swap has been called a bad idea, and considered an underpowered considerable waste of time, since 2007.

Nice to see that most don’t think that anymore.

:miller: we talked about this it is the 4.6L which has been bored and stroked its not going to be a push rod motor.
