Prices at $90,000 this is one cool car...
Following on the heels of the official unveiling of the Ford Focus SR at the Frankfurt Motorshow, Ford has taken the wraps off its sexy and race-ready Focus ST-R. Less appealing, but entirely justifiable, is its asking price — a cool $99K.
What do you get for creating a sizeable hole in your wallet? A spartan racing interior awaits you, stripped of creature comforts that add unwanted pounds, a FIA-regulation roll cage, a racing pew, an upgraded intercooler on the 2.0-liter eco-boost engine, a limited slip-differential, adjustable dampers, antiroll bars, and upgraded brakes among other goodies.
“Because the Focus ST-R is a production-based road race car, it features stock body panels and production parts where possible,” says Ford Racing director, Jamie Allison.
“People who buy one will get will get a fully prepared race car that will only need communications equipment and the customer’s decals to go racing. We’ve already had significant interest in this vehicle from numerous established race teams.”
The Focus ST-R can be ordered through your regular Ford dealership and is prepared for your driving pleasure by Ford Racing, by the same team that bolts together the Cobra Jet Mustangs.
If you’re wondering what to do with it when you pick it up, Ford developed the Focus ST-R with the Grand Am series in mind, and for people with sponsorship. That, however, does not stop a the average schmo loaded with some cash to burn from trailering it out for some high-octane track days.ref leftlanenews
