My car eats fuel pressure regulators! Every 2,000 miles I smell gas and have to replace my fuel pressure regulator in my 97 5.4L Cougar. For some reason they have a difficult time taking the sudden stop and start of flow and possibly the ethanol in the 93+ octane gas.
The last time this happened, I purchased the Aeromotive 13102 Adjustable Billet Fuel Pressure Regulator.
They are expensive at $128.95 each. But the rebuild kits are just $34.95.
Yea, a stock FPR is $46.95 but it is not adjustable and I prefer to have control. 97 4.6L stock Specifications - Fuel Pressure
- Engine Running 30-45 psi
- Key On / Engine Off 37-43 psi
Other adjustable regulators are approximately $72 each. This means that I will be seeing a savings after the third swap. The rebuild kit is on it's way.
