Wipers don't always work

(1/3) > >>

Joe H:
When they do come on............they work fine.

Replaced switch.

Is there is a separate 17c476 intermittent governor

If so.................and it wasn't functioning all the time.......i think the wipers would still work...........just not the intermittent function.................right?

I read that there is an I.C.M. for the wipers/turn signals under dash to the left of steering column.

Anyone have any experience or knowledge of this problem/part ?

Anyone have one they could snip/clip?

thanks,
        Joe

It is next to the fuse box under the dash.  See attached.

J dot Miller:
Rockauto says there is an alternate intermittent governor part number is  F3SF17C476AA.

I could not find it in any NOS store.  You can try calling your Ford dealer?  If you can solder circuit boards I can post a link...  Otherwise your bet will be after market, a junk yard or car-part.com.

Thanks for replies.
Hey , J.M.

If it was the governor then wouldn't the intermittent function not operate ?

TO SUM IT UP:
In other words the only problem I'm having isthat they don't always come on.
Could a bad gov. cause this?

I've been out of the business too long.
I know I used to know this answer.
Guess I'm over 50 now
so..............cough........cough

What was I talking about? :help:

J dot Miller:
Not sure.  Could be the motor could be the governor.  Odds are on the motor.
