ok
I talked to ASP

so the 375 is for the big alt.

I'd need the 328 which is on back order for 2 weeks naturally

The redline for a stock motor is 6k.  My point was that when you rev high the alternator life lessons.  I do not know the magic number, I just know it happens from experience.

I am sure you can get a canned chip.  You pals over there will frown on not getting a Dyno tune but in my humble opinion that is best for lots of mods.  I would think about the following:

1.  Minimum idle RPM ask ASP what it is for the one you want.  My guess 950 RPM's.
2.  180 T-stat - Will require some fan temperature set point changes.  Get a good one with a weep hole.
3.  New water pump - high flow better.
4.  If you get a chip minus well have them up the transmission shift points.  A transmission cooler is always recommended.
5.  Cooler spark plugs.

 :schh:
The 5.4 swap has been called a bad idea, and considered an underpowered considerable waste of time, since 2007.

Nice to see that most donít think that anymore.

yep
I got all of those on my list.
Especially the shift points.
JMOD makes it shift into 2nd early

6k is the redline??

seems like it started shorting out earlier than that but i'm not sure

with respect are you sure about that # ?

I'm going to have to get some kind of tune.
Does Lonnie still work at Blue Oval ?

Thats all I read about when searching it here

Oh gosh, if you want I can load the stock EEC codes for the exact numbers this weekend...   Kinda a pain to boot up the old and slow Win 95 EEC tuner computer...

If Blue Oval is around the Lonnie should be since it is his company.  He was Jakes pal.  Always liked him.  I have not heard from him years so please check.

The JMod is  basically a shift kit.  It is preferred to use a 1999-2000 4R70W Mustang or CrownVic valve body.  One of the benefits of the 99+ VB is the 2-3 Capacity spring. The 96/ 97 VB's are similar but not as good. But since the early tranny's have a roller clutch instead of the Mechanical Diode, you cant open up the Intermediate clutch hole to a slot. So you ned to upgrade to a Mechanical Diode to use a 99+ VB.

Then you have to drill the separator plats.  I have the info and etc.  But really, sounds like you are digging a hole,  do you want to do that far?' :lunie:

I think you misunderstood.

I've already done those things including JMOD.
Plus I know some people at a tranny shop so they sold me a  valve body for 20 bucks

The JMOD makes it shift into 2nd early.................or its just programmed like that from the factory.

I wanted the rpm numbers because generally speaking...........you can usually run a lil over what the factory allows.
My tach shows redline at about 5500
but............. it also shorts out somewhere around 5500

SOOOOOOOOO...........I'm thinking that you can probably turn a well maintained
4.6 2v to 6,000 without denting the oil pan or your hood ;D

I talked to Lonnie yesterday and he is going to program an x3 for me  :D

I really don't need the numbers anymore since Lonnie is hooking me up.
But..............it would still be nice to know.

Make sure you give Lonnie all the required information so he does it one time.

I'm thinking/estimating that a well maintained and properly assembled 4.6. should be able to turn 6600-6800 r.p.m.

Any comments?

In most cases you already reached your peak HP and torque before 6,000 RPM's.  It is just so many times you can do that before She gives out.  Why beat the motor and tear up your alternator?
