Whats your dream suspension
« on: May 30, 2007, 06:20:27 PM »
OK when I went down to PA for the club meet I noticed that the ride of my Cougar had a little more bounce in it than I like. So this is what I would like know if you had to do your suspension what would you do. It is a 97 Cougar and what componets and brands do you recommend mods will also be considered.
97 - 4.6L Alpine Green Cougar XR-7 w/ Fiber Concepts Hood, SPC cold air intake, 2.5 SLP Dual Exhaust, Eclipse CD4000 w/ Polk's speakers, Koni Shocks, 11/4" Addco sway bars, and Vogtland more to come.
08 Volvo XC90 loaded.

I would get a set of SC or 97 Sport springs.   I know the sport springs will lower your car...  Replace the Rear spring insulators (4) E9SZ-5K617-A and new bolts and nuts for upper arm/spindle connection N806579-S150 (bolt).  Inspect your upper control arms for split ball joint seals. If they are split you should replace them while the front shocks are off.  :-\

You can always install an air bag kit in the rear... ^-^
The 5.4 swap has been called a bad idea, and considered an underpowered considerable waste of time, since 2007.

Nice to see that most donít think that anymore.

Well here is what I am looking at to do first upper and lower control arm assemblies 1.250" front and rear sway bars Koni adjustable shocks with a set Vogland .750" lowering spring and a pair of airbags to keep the wheel hop to a minimum on the launch.
