Ford wins two in a row
« on: March 02, 2008, 10:14:56 PM »
Yes Carl Edwards did it again winning two in a row the first at Fontana CA and the latest at Las Vegas NV it was a good race with eleven caution flags (a track record) and a spectacular crash at lap 7 when Jeff Gordon hit the in field wall after he got Matt Kenseth sidewades. Ford dominated the race with four car finishing in the top ten. All seven of the Ford Sprint Cup cars finished the race 5 Roush Fenway & 2 Yates cars.  :drv:

He he...  Edwards #99 had some drama in post-race inspection. The lid was off of the oil tank box, behind the driver.  So they impounded the car, NASCAR hauled it back to the Reasearch and Development (R&D) Center for an annal probe.  Results of the probe along with possible fines and/or penalties will be announced next week.  There must be some kind of 'aerodynamic advantage' with the oil tank lid.

I have been looking at the die cast models below and so far have not seen this advantage...

The 5.4 swap has been called a bad idea, and considered an underpowered considerable waste of time, since 2007.

Nice to see that most donít think that anymore.

Well here the latest on the 99 car.
HAMPTON, Ga. -- Jack Roush is ready to take a polygraph exam to prove there was no intent or knowledge that his No. 99 team tried to cheat last week at Las Vegas.

The owner of Roush Fenway Racing was visually upset Friday that his driver, Carl Edwards, and crew chief, Bob Osborne, were accused of purposely rigging an oil cap to come loose during last Sunday's UAW-Dodge 400, which Edwards won. In post-race inspection, NASCAR discovered the oil cap was missing.

On Wednesday, Edwards was docked 100 driver points, dropping him from the Cup points lead to seventh in the standings. Roush was penalized 100 owner points, and Osborne was fined $100,000 and suspended six races

Ha do you think if we remove our oil caps we could see a 50 horsepower increase? Do you beleave this. On Friday, Lee White, general manager for Toyota Racing Development, told USA Today that removal of the oil cap would provide up to 21 percent more downforce and as much as 50 horsepower.

Removing the oil cap may lower the internal engine oil pressure which can reduce the resistance for the engine to spin.  This will give you more power.  There is a fine line between oil pressure, RPM's and horsepower!   :o

10 PSI for every 1,000 RPM's is all you need!   :schh:

They use a dry sump system to reduce oil spills in a wreck and to also prevent the engine from starving for oil during all those left turns. Plus with a dry sum you get more horse power. Check out this link http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question331.htm

Well I found out more info it was not the cover for the oil sump but it was encloser cover that was off. This encloser is open on the bottom so air was passing threw into the drivers compartment reducing drag letting air passing threw the compartment.
