My son my son!
« on: November 26, 2007, 12:56:43 AM »
My son my son! When he has something on his mind he is hard to get him off it. As most you know Tstats is not only the name my Cougar but is also my sons user name. He and I have been working on my 97 Cougar for the last few years and now we are deep into a motor rebuild and engine swap which is going to the machine shop just before Christmas. So what has he done? He calls me (which he only does when needs something) and tells me he wants to by this 98 Mustang project from this guy. I asked who much he said $900.00 I said if you decide to do this check it out good. When I got home Tom had gone out I was home about an hour later he comes into the den and say I just bought this guys project. I asked what was included he told me everything to make this 6 cylinder Mustang into a Mustang GT, 1998 4.6L SOHC and tranny, radiator, exhaust 3.73 pinion the list goes on and on. I told him it sounds like your cleaning out his garage. My son said, "Dad it is one half his garage." He has to get all this stuff by Wed so I'll post more when I see the car.

Yikes!  Not done the first one and already on a second one.   :o
The 5.4 swap has been called a bad idea, and considered an underpowered considerable waste of time, since 2007.

Nice to see that most donít think that anymore.

Yes but his idea was to by the SN95 to get need parts like the hubs the corba wheels and anything else he could use to mod the Cougar. The problem was when he went to see the car it is Sonic Blue a color he likes it is a six cylinder and that was this guys project was to make this Mustang into a Mustang GT. This guy stripped a Mustang GT so we get all these parts I'm hoping this motor has had a PI done to it. Tommy dose want to install the 4.6L into the car.

He paid $900.00 for the car and that included another motor with tranny, drive shaft, 3.73 ring and pinion, 4 radiators all good, a set of Mustang GT wheels and BF Goodrich tires drilled and slotted brake rotors set of new calipers.

Well it's been a while but Tom and I have started the conversion of the Mustang to a Mustang GT. We started buy pulling out the 3.8L which had blown head gaskets we have a 4.6L PI motor from a GT to replace the V6. Tom and I replace the motor mounts, and bench tested the starter and are almost ready to drop the new motor into the car I will post some picture.
